OTHER: The Swamp Lantern is native to the Pacific Northwest region of The US & Canada. It has won a Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit. The huge bright yellow “ flowers” are actually the spathe & spadix (like a calla lily). With a very early bloom time, the Swamp Lantern flowers before its leaves open. It gets the nickname skunk cabbage because of the “distinctive” (aka skunky) odor the flowers emit to attract pollinators. The leaves of the plant can measure up to 1 - 2' long, & were used by Native American Indians for carrying berries, etc, or making baskets. The plants also have traditional medicinal uses.
They like moist to boggy conditions, & are naturally found in swamps, marshes, or along streams. They can also grow in water & tolerate coastal conditions well.
